a daydream of musicians and actors

director: Johannes Erath

Johannes Erath was studying violin in Vienna and Freiburg. After working as a musician, he started directing as an assistant of Willy Decker, Nicolas Brieger, Guy Joosten and Peter Konwitschny in different cities in Europe. 2002 he was director at the Staatsoper Hamburg, 2005-2007 he won a scholarship at the "Akademie Musiktheater heute" of the Deutsche Bank Foundation. Among his productions are the following operas: "Un ballo in maschera" in Bremerhaven, "Triptychon" (G.Schedl) at the Neue Oper Vienna as well as "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" and "Cendrillon" at the Stadttheater Bern, for those he received the Götz-Friedrich-directing Award. Other productions were in Vienna, Frankfurt ("Angels in America"), Graz ("Lulu", Don Giovanni") and Cologne ("Aida"). Future engagements will be in Graz, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
