Since the advent of the 20th century, we have observed the most diverse and contradictory visions of goodness, truth and beauty in terms of musical interpretations. The overriding goal of the Consortium Rhenus is a cooperative attempt to create a lively, modern, yet authentic musical aesthetic.

To this end, the members of Consortium Rhenus have chosen not to limit their repertoire to particular historical time periods. The ensemble plays pieces spanning the ages from baroque to contemporary. It’s a natural outcome, considering the musicians’ extensive training at some of the most renowned conservatories of Europe and the US and their day to day experiences on the concert circuit.  Some of the members are holding principal positions in leading European orchestras. Others draw upon their backgrounds as freelance performers. Several of the musicians have been playing together since student days, performing in a wide variety of formations. For that reason alone it’s hard to define a founding date for Consortium Rhenus.…
